Do you want to put your waist training to get your body into the right shape? Waist cinchers or trainers, also called a waist corset back in the ‘old days’, are making a comeback. However, one of the most important considerations when looking for a waist trainer is getting the right size for you. And this is not as easy as it sounds.
Waist Training Size Chart
One important thing to note when buying a waist trainer is not to use your normal clothing size to determine your correct size waist cincher. Indeed, one of the most common comments from customers is that they found they had to buy a size bigger than their regular clothing size due to different garment sizing systems OR they got a size smaller because they did not measure correctly. At Waist Shaperz, we have a waist training size chart available to assist you in making the correct size choice.
How To Measure For A Waist Trainer
A good waist training corset should fit you snugly, like a glove, so you’ll need to dig out a measuring tape and jot down some figures about your figure.
The important measurement for a waist trainer is your WAIST size. This is applicable for both men and women. When measuring your waist, use a flexible measuring tape and make sure it comfortably follows the natural contours of your body. Your waistline is the narrowest part of your torso. A woman’s waistline is about an inch above her naval whilst a man’s is just above the top of his hipbones, usually at navel level.
Ensure that the tape is neither too tight nor too loose. It should be just nicely taut. When you have that measurement (in inches) you can then look up a waist cincher sizing chart that gives you the waist trainer size you require according to your waist measurement.
Tip: If necessary you can use a piece of string instead of following the same guidelines as above. Mark the length of the string around your waist and then lay it out against a hard tape, ruler or other hard measuring tool.
What Size Waist Trainer Do I Need
Most women find they need to buy a waist trainer that is at least one size bigger than their regular US clothing size because of the different sizing systems. This is why you must have an accurate measurement of your waist, so that you can look up the correct size for your waist measurement on a waist cincher sizing chart.
Also remember that these garments do apply some pressure so it’s really important to get exactly the right size and then ensure that you’re wearing it at the right tightness. A correctly fitting waist trainer should not prevent you from breathing or moving normally, although obviously it will take a little bit of getting used to.
Take your waist training slowly, eat and exercise correctly as well and you’ll be rewarded with svelte, trim curves.
Measuring Your Waist
- Find the top of your hip bone
- Find the bottom of your ribs
- Place a tape measure in between these 2 areas and wrap it around your waist.
Preferably a cloth measure as it will move around your body much easier than a metal or hard measurement tool. Don’t let it be slack but not too tight either.
(Hint: If you don't have a flexible measurement tool you can also use a piece of string to measure and then mark the length of the string around your waist and place it against the hard measure tool instead)
